Music Director: Robert Dixon

Robert Dixon earned his Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his Masters of Music from Morehead State University. While in North Carolina, Mr. Dixon worked extensively on string education with Dr. Rebecca Macleod and Mrs. Marta Richardson.

Mr. Dixon began his teaching career at Western Middle’s The School for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky. During his six years at Western Middle, the program grew from nine students to over fifty within the first three years. In 2017 they were invited to perform for the 2017 KMEA state conference. An avid supporter of elementary string education, Mr. Dixon is also the conductor of the Louisville Youth Orchestra (LYO) Serenade Orchestra.

Mr. Dixon has been the Orchestra Director at Louisville Male High School since the Fall of 2017. In his time at LMHS, the program has maintained in size, but grown in excellence. The Chamber Orchestra has consistently received distinguished ratings at the KMEA large ensemble assessments.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Dixon enjoys time with his wife, Angela, and their two children, Kelsey and Andrew. He also performs jazz and classical bass throughout the Louisville area.
